Upward Bound

Choice Thru Education's Upward Bound program is one of the nation's oldest and most developed Upward Bound programs. The summer program takes students to a local college or university for an intensive six-week residential academic program. Classes, counselling, and recreational activities provide students with academic and life skills that help motivate them to aspire to higher education and equip them to succeed.

Unlike most Upward Bound programs, CTE's Upward Bound program is community-based with year-round services, including tutoring and academic and financial aid counseling. The program maintains long standing partnerships with colleges and the local school systems. The close connections developed between staff and students through the year-round program allow for regular reinforcement of the skills developed during the summer and rapid intervention in times of crisis.
