Our Students

• Most of CTE's 125 students come from Chelsea, a city with the second highest dropout rate in the state and a very low college placement rate of eligible students. A few, first recruited in Chelsea, currently live in neighboring Everett and Revere.

• Students are between the ages of 13 and 19, and all are from low income families whose parents have not attended college.

• 42% of students are male and 58% female.

• GED and ESL classes enroll approximately 50 adults, of which the majority is parents of our youth. 

• The demographics reflect the composition of the local schools with 17% African American, 63% Latino, 13% white, 4% Asian, and 3% African. 

• 75% of our entering 9th and 10th grade students achieve admission to post secondary educational institutions.

• Many CTE alumna return to Chelsea in leadership positions. Others are pursuing professional careers in Massachusetts or elsewhere in the United States and the world. See Alumni Achievements for more information.
